MOCA Summer Concert Poster

Description:

MOCA Summer Concert Illustration Poster

The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles is a world renowned gallery that showcases many important modern artists. While, this museum has a huge cultural significance to the surrounding Los Angeles area, they were going through rough financial in the past and almost had to close their doors. To help increase membership sales, Takeshi was tasked to create a summer concert and to complete an illustrative advertisement to draw attention from young adults. Takeshi chose Mac Miller, because of his mass appeal to the younger generations, and his influence in the world of art through music. The poster is made from a collage like style, utilizing mental health magazines which, is an important topic for young adults and also quite prominent in Miller’s songs. Pieces of the magazine included in the final work include an American Spirits cigarette advertisement, an advertisement with a brain being submerged in beer, x-ray of lungs, Plan B pills, and more.
